Logitech Extend Brings Plug-and-Play BYOD Meetings to More Rooms

Logitech has announced the launch of Logitech Extend, a simple, single-cable BYOD solution designed to simplify meetings in Android- and BYOD-based rooms. This solution allows users to effortlessly start meetings from their laptops or mobile devices using a USB-C cable.

Addressing the common challenges of interoperability in mixed-platform environments, Logitech Extend ensures easy collaboration across different operating systems, platforms, and devices. This follows Logitech’s previous solutions, such as Direct Guest Join for Windows and Android and the Swytch BYOD solution for PC-based room setups.

Logitech Extend simplifies the process of connecting laptops or mobile devices to in-room video conferencing systems. Users can quickly plug in their devices using the USB-C cable, enabling them to share content or run video meetings without the need for additional drivers or software. This ease of use eliminates concerns about platform compatibility and the hassle of adapters, making it ideal for both employees and visitors.

The two-box solution of Logitech Extend can be deployed using category cabling, providing BYOD connectivity up to 100 meters with the Rally Bar Family and other Logitech conference cameras. In rooms equipped with Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android or Zoom Rooms Appliances, users can temporarily bypass the designated video provider. For BYOD rooms without a designated provider, users can simply connect to conduct meetings using the in-room conference camera and display.

Logitech Extend offers optional power delivery, allowing users to charge their laptops or mobile devices up to 100W through the USB-C cable by adding a standard USB-C power supply to the table-side hub. IT teams can manage connectivity status and deploy updates via Logitech Sync remote management software. Additionally, updates can be applied through Zoom Device Management and Microsoft Teams Admin Center as part of Rally Bar family CollabOS updates.

Logitech prioritizes sustainability in its design process, from raw material sourcing to product end-of-life. Logitech Extend is made with a minimum of 40% post-consumer recycled plastic, joining the company’s portfolio of video collaboration products that adhere to Design for Sustainability (DfS) principles. This allows Logitech customers to outfit entire conference rooms with sustainable technology, including Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms while managing their carbon footprint.
