Al Dhaid Agricultural Exhibition Hosts Over 6 Key Workshops on Innovative Farming Solutions
The Al Dhaid Agricultural Exhibition, hosted by Expo Centre Sharjah, is successfully underway for its third day, featuring more than six-panel discussions and scientific workshops led by a team of agricultural specialists and experts. The sessions on the third day explored important topics related to sustainability in the agricultural and livestock sector, including the latest advancements in wheat production, such as the introduction of new wheat varieties, and the implementation of globally recognized best practices in wheat cultivation.
These discussions hold particular importance in the UAE, with Sharjah being a key player in food security. The event is organized in collaboration with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and is supported by the Department of Agriculture and Livestock. Drawing a substantial number of farm owners and professionals in agriculture, the exhibition displays state-of-the-art technologies and equipment for agricultural development.
It serves as a platform for presenting innovative solutions in hydroponics, vertical farming, advanced irrigation, and horticulture techniques. Participants also have the chance to benefit from the services provided by various entities and institutions participating in the exhibition, which play a crucial role in boosting production and achieving self-sufficiency.
HE Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Centre Sharjah, said, “By hosting leading corporate and institutional participants, the exhibition seeks to present breakthrough solutions encompassing the latest fertilisers and techniques, guaranteeing high-efficiency, top-notch agriculture that is both relevant and sustainable. These efforts work towards food security targets, meeting the requirements of agricultural expansion with expertise for addressing climate challenges and adapting to water scarcity.”
Representatives from participating agricultural companies have expressed that the Al Dhaid Agriculture Exhibition serves as a unique platform for dialogue with farmers to understand their priorities, as they are the ones directly engaged in the field and dealing with various agricultural needs.
Engineer Mohammed Elshafei, Sales Manager for Al Mubarak Agro-Chemicals, highlighted that a key aspect of the exhibition is the focus on refining wheat cultivation techniques. Participation in the event has enabled his company to showcase its products, particularly pesticides, aimed at enhancing the productivity and quality of wheat crops. He added that their products boost the number of ears cultivated by supplying quality seeds and effective pesticides to manage pests associated with wheat cultivation.
Engineer Omar Abdul Rahim from Al Yamama Fertilizer Industries, a company specializing in both chemical and organic fertilisers, stated that the organization of the Al Dhaid Agriculture Exhibition by the Sharjah Chamber and Expo Centre Sharjah is a significant move. He pointed out that Al Yamama’s product range includes fertilisers and pesticides that contribute to the advancement of wheat cultivation.
The exhibition, which concludes on Sunday evening, has successfully brought together numerous ministries, government entities, over 50 companies operating in the agriculture and livestock sector, as well as experts, farm owners, and farmers.
