Ajman Chamber Handled 84 Cases of Commercial Mediation in 2023

Aisha Al Nuaimi, the Director of the Legal Affairs Department at the Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), disclosed that the Ajman Chamber handled a total of 84 commercial mediation cases in 2023.

She noted that 93 per cent of these cases were resolved, with trials ongoing for 6 cases. Al Nuaimi highlighted that the commercial mediation service is a key legal service offered by the Ajman Chamber to all business owners. The aim is to provide a sustainable legal service to amicably resolve commercial disputes with the help of a team of expert legal advisors.

Al Nuaimi further stated that the Ajman Chamber is committed to implementing an annual plan to promote legal awareness among business owners and the general public. In 2023, the Ajman Chamber organized over 8 specialized legal seminars. These seminars focused on corporate tax awareness, introducing laws regulating labour relations and trademarks, and the frameworks governing the use of AI. These were conducted in collaboration with the Ajman Chamber’s partners from government and private agencies.

She also pointed out that the Ajman Conciliation and Arbitration Center Committee of ACCI comprises more than 20 experts and arbitrators. It offers a range of primary services, including arbitration service requests, conciliation service requests, expert registration requests, and arbitrator registration requests.

The Centre aims to provide flexible and neutral mechanisms for easily and cost-effectively resolving and settling disputes. It also seeks to expand its partnerships with local and international bodies and institutions to train a select group of arbitrators in the field of international arbitration and promote the culture of arbitration among legal professionals and businesspeople through seminars, courses, and specialized training programs.

Al Nuaimi affirmed that the Ajman Chamber is continually striving to enhance its legal services, foster a work environment that promotes business growth and sustainability, provide innovative proactive services that protect commercial and industrial interests, and enable various sectors to keep pace with legal frameworks and adapt to the rapid changes in the business environment.
