Al Masaood Group to Participate at COP28 UAE

Al Masaood Group – one of Abu Dhabi’s leading business conglomerates, is participating in the upcoming COP28 UAE to be held in Expo City, Dubai. Taking place from November 30 to December 12, 2023, COP28 will bring together world leaders, policymakers, industry experts, and environmental advocates from around the globe to discuss and develop strategies for combatting climate change.

Al Masaood, through its Power Division, will showcase the innovative SHAMS+, the first UAE-designed and manufactured solar power charging station for electric vehicles and hybrid marine vessels. As a 100% renewable energy source, SHAMS+ is also re-deployable, carbon-neutral, and requires low maintenance, making it an effective tool to prevent global warming. Technologies like SHAMS+ highlight Al Masaood’s pivotal role in advancing the transition to clean energy – positioning the Group as a local entity actively engaged in furthering the UAE’s sustainability agenda and contributing to global climate initiatives.

Hani El Tannir, CEO of Al Masaood Group Industrial highlighted the organisation’s presence at COP28, underscoring its unwavering commitment to spearheading a sustainable future in the UAE and beyond. He stated, “Our presence at COP28 serves as a powerful testament to our dedication to advancing green mobility and the development of ground-breaking technologies like SHAMS+ reflects our commitment to sustainable solutions. We hope that SHAMS+ will encourage a substantial increase in the adoption of electric vehicles and marine vessels within the region, as well as provide clean source power to other applications.

“In a world increasingly focused on reducing carbon emissions and embracing cleaner alternatives, SHAMS+ arrives at an ideal moment. At the heart of it is sustainability, convenience and reliability, as we continue to embrace a greener solutions mindset,” he added.

SHAMS+ is one of many tangible achievements that testify to Al Masaood’s commitment to sustainability, decarbonisation, and the clean energy transition. The Group has recently launched its Sustainability Report 2022, emphasising its dedication to achieving sustainability goals across the board. In line with the Abu Dhabi Environment Vision 2030, the Group has outlined its key Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives, and has been making substantial strides to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Continuing its forward momentum, Al Masaood has further cemented its sustainability efforts by signing the “Climate-Responsible Companies Pledge” launched by the UAE’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environment), thereby aligning with the country’s “Net Zero by 2050” strategic initiative.

The Group’s presence at this historic COP28 is reflective of its dedication and drive for climate action, aligning with national and global objectives. Al Masaood recognizes the importance of setting an example by honouring the commitments it makes as an organisation to its community, and to a sustainable future for all.
