Review: Poly Studio P5
As we get used to the new normal, especially with office work, we all know how important a web camera is for our day-to-day office meetings. Most web cameras that come built into laptops are not up to mark and hence companies such as Poly have started offering web cameras out there on the market that offer excellent video and audio quality. The new Poly Studio P5 is of those.
The new Poly Studio P5 is a Full HD web camera that offers a resolution of 1080p and it comes with a built-in microphone that is optimised for video conferencing. The P5 offers an 80-degree field of view that is perfect for video conference calls, streaming sessions, and even for online learning.
At the rear of the device, you get a small cover, which when removed, reveals a USB port. This is quite convenient and a very unique feature that lets you connect a USB headphone for your calls and streaming sessions if you would like to. In addition, the P5 also comes with a removable mounting clap at the bottom, which is magnetically held in place.
Detaching the mount, reveals a tripod mount, thus allowing you to mount the Poly Studio P5 on a tripod. Quite nifty, I must say! The web camera also features an automatic low-light technology that adjusts the lighting to ensure your footage is good in your video calls.
The built-in directional microphone focuses on your voice – so you will always sound crystal clear. The Studio P5 is compatible with most video collaboration platforms including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex, Google Meet, 8×8, BlueJeans, and lots more. There’s also a privacy shutter which when twisted, hides the lens for added security. The Poly Studio P5 also comes with an autofocus feature.
Poly offers the Poly Lens Desktop App, which can be used with the Studio P5 web camera to customise your video settings. These settings include brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness, and backlight compensation. The app also allows you to maintain a balance throughout your day with gentle health and wellness reminders.
Getting started with the Poly Studio P5 is a walk in the park. Connect the camera to your PC or laptop and you are good to go. Video quality was really good in both video calls and streaming sessions. The built-in microphone does a very good job at capturing audio. The USB port at the rear of the web camera is an excellent addition and will really come in handy if you want to connect your headphones directly to the web camera.
The new Poly Studio P5 is now available at a price of AED 517.14. If you don’t want to bother with multiple devices for your video call setup, the Poly Studio P5 will take all the setup hassle away from you while offering very good overall performance.
