The biggest asset for any business is its data. With the current working environment where employees are alternating between working from home and office on a roster-based setup, data security becomes very important. Especially when it involves data that can either make or break a business.

Now there are lots of options available on the market when it comes to data security – you can choose from cloud drives, NAS drives, external storage devices, portable storage, and lots more. However, what’s important to keep data safe and secure is the encryption of the said data.

Kingston Technology is a very well known brand when it comes to quality storage products. The company also makes flash drives that accompany 256-bit AES encryption called DataTraveler Vault Privacy 3.0. This series of flash drives offer business-grade security in XTS mode.

The device has been designed to protect 100% of the stored data, by enforcing complex password protection with minimum characteristics to prevent unauthorised access. In addition, for additional peace of mind, the drive also locks down and reformats the entire drive if someone tried to illegally access the contents of the device after 10 intrusion attempts.

The drive uses SuperSpeed USB 3.0 technology, which means you don’t have to compromise on transfer speeds for security. The device is also FIPS 197 certified and TAA-compliant, to meet frequently requested corporate and government IT requirements.

Kingston Technology also offers customisation services – so companies looking to meet internal corporate IT requirements can get the job done. The customisation service includes co-logo, serial numbering, number of attempted password entries, minimum password length, and customised product identifiers for integration into standard end-point management software for white-listing.

The Kingston DataTraveler Vault Privacy 3.0 can also be switched into ‘Read-Only Access Mode’. By doing this, the files on the drive can only be read and not altered in any way. This is an excellent way to easily prevent any sort of malware from altering and corrupting your files.

In addition, you can also set a password for the USB flash drive so that only those who know the password can access the files on the drive. And as mentioned earlier, if someone were to wrongly guess the password 10 times, the drive will lock down and reformat, thereby erasing all the data on the drive.

As soon as you plug the device into your PC for the very first time, you will be greeted with the setup window. Here, you will need to set up the password for the device along with the hint for the password in case you forget it. Next, add your name, the company name, and other details for identification.

Once you click on Finish, the device will start formatting the drive. It will be then ready for use. In order the test the performance of the drive, we used the ATTO Disk Benchmark. Since ATTO uses compressible data rather than random data, you get higher performance and higher benchmark scores.

We were able to clock read speeds that exceeded the 40 MB/s mentioned in the specs sheet. For read speeds, we were able to score a little more than the 250 MB/s mentioned in the specs sheet. In our CrystalDiskMarch Benchmark tests, we were able to score read speeds of 248 MB/s and write speeds of 41 MB/s.

When it comes to data security, you cannot really be more careful. Thankfully, with the Kingston DataTraveler Vault Privacy 3.0, safety and security of your data will be something you don’t need to worry about. The encryption of data worked really well during our tests and as you can see from the benchmark results above, the device does a truly great job.

The Kingston DataTraveler Vault Privacy 3.0 is highly recommended.
