Review: TP-Link TL-NC450 Wi-Fi Camera
TP-Link is a very well-known brand when it comes to networking products and IP cameras. The company has been making smart home solutions for years now and the latest to roll out of its production floor, the TP-Link TL-NC450 Wi-Fi camera that comes packed with pan and tilt features. What’s more, this IP camera also comes with night vision capability.
Since the NC450 supports tilt and pan features, it can see up to 360 degrees horizontally and 150 degrees vertically. It also comes with 2-way audio communication. The camera itself offers 720pm HD imaging and the aforementioned night vision works up to 26 feet in distance. The camera also features motion and sound detection that allows you to receive push and email notifications when motion or sound is detected.
The NC450 comes with a micro SD card slot, which allows you to save your videos and images easily. TP-Link also provides its new tpCamera App for both iOS and Android devices. Inside the box, you will find the TP-Link NC450 camera, the power adapter, the external antenna, screws, and base for mounting the camera on walls, an extension cable, an Ethernet cable, a passive PoE injector, the warranty, support information, and the quick installation guide. PoE essentially means Power over Ethernet, and it describes a standardised or ad-hoc system which passes electrical energy along with data on twisted pair Ethernet cabling.
The overall design and build quality of the NC450 camera is very good. The design of the device is quite stylish and will go perfectly well with the overall ambiance of your home. The NC450 camera comes with a 1 Megapixel CMOS sensor which can record video at a maximum resolution of 1280×720 pixels (720p), as mentioned before, and at 30 frames per second. The camera uses the H.264 video compression codec, and it offers configurable brightness, contrast, and saturation. The camera also has an infrared LED which allows it to provide night vision.
In order to connect and set up the NC450, first, connect the camera to your router using the LAN cable and plugging the device into the power socket. Next, download the tpCamera app onto your smartphone. Once you fire up the app, it starts searching for the NC450 on your network and from then on, just follow the onscreen instructions to complete the setup.
The TP-Link NC450 works seamlessly with the company’s very own tpCamera app. The recorded footage is saved directly onto the MicroSD card and you can retrieve the footages easily via the app on your smartphones or plug it directly to your PC. Footage captured through the NC450 is of very good quality. Even footage capture in night vision is pretty good.
